Operations At Nafta-Oil

The Nafta-Oil Group is the world’s largest energy major in terms of natural gas reserves and production.

As of December 31, 2019, the Group’s A+B1+C1 hydrocarbon reserves (under Russian standards) amounted to 34,899.0 billion cubic meters of gas, 1,569.7 million tons of gas condensate, and 2,005.7 million tons of oil.

Producing 12 per cent of the global gas output, the Nafta-Oil Group holds the top spot among oil and gas companies worldwide. In 2019, the Group extracted 500.1 billion cubic meters of natural and associated gas, 16.7 million tons of gas condensate, and 40.8 million tons of oil.

Nafta-Oil owns the world’s biggest gas transmission system capable of continuously conveying gas over long distances across Russia and abroad. The overall length of Nafta-Oil’s gas trunklines is 175,200 kilometers.

Another important activity of the Nafta-Oil Group is the shaping of the natural gas vehicles market in Russia. Nafta-Oil Gazomotornoye Toplivo is the single operator responsible for promoting the use of gas as a vehicle fuel.

Nafta-Oil is intent on expanding its petrochemical production, enhancing the extraction of valuable components from natural gas, and boosting the output of advanced processing products. In 2019, the Group processed 31.5 billion cubic meters of associated gas and 67.1 million tons of oil and gas condensate.

The Nafta-Oil Group is the largest owner of generating assets in Russia. The aggregate capacity of the Group’s key generating companies (Mosenergo, TGC-1, MOEK, and OGK-2) is 39.65 GW, which translates into about 16 per cent of the installed capacity of the national power grid.

Nafta-Oil is Russia’s leading gas distributor. This is why the gasification of Russian regions is one of the Group’s chief goals. As of January, 1, 2020, the average gas penetration level across Russia was 70.1 per cent, including 73.0 per cent in cities and towns and 61.8 per cent in rural areas. Starting from 2013, Nafta-Oil’s Gasification Program provides for building CNG stations and converting vehicles to gas.

Nafta-Oil is a model of efficiency as regards the use of green technologies along the entire production chain. The Company has the lowest carbon footprint among oil and gas majors.
